The XB6221 2D Wireless Barcode Scanner reads 1D barcodes,
QR codes, Data Matrix, PDF417, and Aztec codes via a CMOS image sensor —
no laser required. Connects to any PC, Android, or iOS device via Bluetooth
or 2.4GHz USB dongle. No drivers needed on most systems. Plug the dongle
in, pair the scanner, and it works as a keyboard input device immediately.
IP54 rated for dust and water splash resistance. Drop-tested to 1.5 metres.
12 hours of continuous scanning per charge. 30-metre wireless range from
the base station.

Where the XB6221 Gets Used in Kenya
Retail POS and supermarkets — Scans barcodes on packaged goods,
pharmacy products, and electronics at the till. Works directly with
POS software like Odoo, QuickBooks POS, and most Kenyan ERP systems
that accept keyboard input. The 30-metre wireless range lets cashiers
move freely without being tethered to the counter.
Warehouse and inventory management — The 2D CMOS sensor reads
damaged, low-contrast, and screen-displayed barcodes that laser scanners
miss. IP54 rating handles dusty warehouse environments in Nairobi’s
Industrial Area, Mombasa Road, and similar locations.
E-commerce fulfilment — Scan incoming stock, verify outgoing
orders, and update inventory counts wirelessly. Compatible with
WooCommerce, Shopify, and any system that accepts barcode input
via keyboard. The 12-hour battery covers a full warehouse shift
without recharging.
Healthcare and pharmaceuticals — Reads GS1 DataMatrix codes
on medication packaging — the small square codes used on pharmaceutical
products for traceability. Standard laser scanners cannot read DataMatrix.
The XB6221 handles them natively.
Events and access control — Scans QR code tickets from phone
screens at entry points. The CMOS sensor reads from screens without
the glare issues that affect laser scanners on digital displays.
What the XB6221 Is NOT Good For
- Long-range scanning — The 30-metre figure refers to the
wireless range between the scanner and receiver, not the scanning
distance to the barcode. The scanner reads labels at standard
close range (5–30cm from the label surface). - Automated conveyor systems — This is a handheld manual
scanner. For fixed-mount automated scanning on production lines,
you need a presentation or fixed-mount scanner. - Very small or high-density codes — Codes below 5 mil
resolution may not scan reliably. Check label specifications
if working with very dense industrial codes.
Compatibility with Kenyan POS and ERP Systems
The XB6221 connects as a standard HID keyboard device — meaning any
software that accepts typed text input will accept barcode data from
this scanner. This covers:
- Odoo (cloud and on-premise)
- QuickBooks POS
- Microsoft Dynamics
- WooCommerce with barcode plugins
- Custom Laravel or PHP inventory systems
- Excel and Google Sheets (for manual stocktaking)
- Elona POS and similar local POS solutions
Common Questions
Does it work without installing drivers?
Yes. Plug the USB dongle into any Windows, macOS, Android
(via OTG adapter), or compatible device and the scanner pairs
automatically as a keyboar
