The RG59 Cable with Power 100M runs both video signal and camera
power in one cable — no separate power wiring needed. One cable from
the DVR location to each camera carries the BNC video signal and
12V DC power simultaneously. Compatible with all analog HD systems
including HD-TVI, HD-CVI, AHD, and CVBS. 100 metres per roll with
PVC jacket rated for indoor and outdoor use.
The video conductor is Copper-Clad Steel (CCS) with aluminium foil
and braided copper shielding at 75 ohms impedance. Power conductors
are pure copper at 2 × 0.5mm² — color-coded for correct polarity
during termination.

Where RG59 Cable with Power Gets Used in Kenya
Analog CCTV camera installations — The standard cable
for analog HD camera systems using Hikvision, Dahua,
and generic DVRs across Kenya. Run one cable from
the DVR to each camera position — the BNC connector
carries video back to the DVR while the power
conductors carry 12V DC from a central power
supply box to the camera. No separate power cable
run required.
Retail shops and offices in Nairobi — A standard
4-camera installation in a shop or office typically
uses 60–80 metres of RG59 with power cable depending
on camera placement. One 100m roll covers most
4-camera installations with minimal waste.
An 8-camera installation in a larger space
typically requires two to three 100m rolls.
Outdoor and perimeter camera runs — The PVC jacket
is UV-resistant and rated for outdoor use.
Run it along walls, through conduit, or under
eaves without degradation from sun exposure
or Nairobi’s rainy seasons. For underground
runs, use conduit to protect the cable.
PTZ camera installations — PTZ cameras require
both a video signal return and a power supply.
RG59 with power handles both in one cable run.
Note that PTZ cameras typically draw more power
than fixed cameras — verify the camera’s power
draw against the power supply capacity before
installation.
Upgrading or extending existing CCTV systems —
Adding cameras to an existing analog DVR system
requires matching cable type. RG59 with power
is the correct cable for any BNC-based analog
HD system running HD-TVI, AHD, CVI, or CVBS cameras.
What This Cable Is NOT Suitable For
- IP camera systems — IP cameras connect via
CAT 6 Ethernet cable, not RG59 coaxial.
RG59 cannot carry Ethernet data.
For IP camera runs, use CAT 6 UTP cable
available at Yasaf Tech Centre. - PoE camera power — This cable carries 12V DC
power from a separate power supply box.
It does not support Power over Ethernet (PoE).
PoE is an Ethernet-based standard incompatible
with coaxial cable. - Runs over 100 metres without amplification —
Signal attenuation increases beyond 100 metres.
For longer runs, use a coaxial signal amplifier
or booster to maintain video quality.
Alternatively, switch to IP cameras with
CAT 6 cable for runs up to 100 metres
per Ethernet segment. - Underground direct burial without conduit —
The PVC jacket is outdoor rated but not
designed for direct soil contact.
For underground cable runs, pull through
a conduit pipe to protect the cable
from moisture and physical damage.
How Much Cable Do You Need?
Estimate your cable requirement before purchasing
to avoid running short mid-installation:
| Installation Type | Estimated Cable Required | Rolls Needed |
|---|---|---|
| 4-camera home or small shop | 60–100 metres | 1 roll |
| 8-camera office or medium retail | 150–250 metres | 2–3 rolls |
| 16-camera warehouse or compound | 400–600 metres | 4–6 rolls |
Always add 15–20% extra to your estimate for
routing around walls, ceilings, and obstacles.
Running short of cable mid-installation
requires joins which degrade signal quality.
Tools and Accessories Needed for Installation
To terminate this cable correctly you need:
- BNC compression or crimp connectors (for video)
- BNC crimping tool or compression tool
- DC barrel connectors or terminal blocks (for power)
- Wire strippers
- 12V DC power supply box (4-way or 8-way depending on camera count)
All termination tools, BNC connectors, DC connectors,
and power supply boxes are available at
Yasaf Tech Centre, Junction Trade Centre, Nairobi.
Common Questions
Can I use this cable with my Hikvision DVR and cameras?
Yes. All Hikvision analog HD cameras — including
Turbo HD TVI models — use BNC video connectors
and 12V DC power. This cable connects directly
to Hikvision cameras and DVRs using standard
BNC and DC barrel connectors.
It is the standard installation cable for
Hikvision analog CCTV systems in Kenya.
What power supply do I need with this cable?
For 4 cameras drawing approximately 1A each,
a 12V 5A power supply with a 4-way splitter
is sufficient. For 8 cameras, use a 12V 10A
power supply with an 8-way splitter.
Power supplies and splitters are available
at Yasaf Tech Centre.
Can I cut this cable to shorter lengths?
Yes. The cable cuts cleanly with standard
wire cutters and can be terminated at any
length. Cut to the exact length needed for
each camera run to avoid excess cable
bunched behind cameras or DVRs.
Is this cable suitable for outdoor use?
Yes. The PVC jacket is UV-resistant and
handles outdoor exposure including sun and
rain. For runs along external walls or under
eaves, the cable can be surface-mounted
using cable clips. For underground runs,
pull through conduit for additional protection.
Is it available at Yasaf Tech Centre in Nairobi?
Yes. RG59 Cable with Power 100M is available
at Yasaf Tech Centre, Junction Trade Centre,
Shop 501, 5th Floor, Nairobi.
