The Hikvision 8-Channel 720p Mini DVR records up to 8 analog
HD cameras simultaneously at 720p resolution in a compact form factor
small enough to mount behind a monitor or inside a cabinet.
HDMI and VGA outputs connect directly to any monitor or TV.
Remote viewing, live monitoring, and motion alerts via the free
Hik-Connect app on iOS and Android. Supports SATA hard drives
up to 6TB for local storage.

Plug-and-play with existing analog HD (TVI) cameras —
no rewiring required if upgrading from an older DVR.
Coaxial cable transmission supported up to 500 metres,
suitable for larger properties with long cable runs.

Hard Drive Storage — How Long Will It Record?

The DVR has one SATA slot supporting up to 6TB.
Without a hard drive the DVR streams live footage
but does not record. Estimated recording duration
for 8 cameras at 720p with motion-triggered recording:

Surveillance-grade HDDs — WD Purple or Seagate SkyHawk —
are recommended for 24/7 CCTV use over standard desktop drives.

Where the Hikvision 8-Channel Mini DVR Gets Used in Kenya

a standard retail setup: entrance, exit, till area,
stockroom, and perimeter. The mini form factor
fits in a locked cabinet behind the counter
away from customer access. Hik-Connect remote

What This DVR Is NOT Suitable For

• IP cameras (NVR systems) — This is an analog
  HD DVR for TVI cameras connected via coaxial
  cable. It does not support IP cameras connected
  over Ethernet. For IP camera systems,
  a Hikvision NVR is required —

• More than 8 cameras — The 8-channel DVR cannot
  be expanded beyond 8 cameras. For 16-camera
  coverage, a 16-channel DVR is required.
• Recording without a hard drive — A SATA HDD
  must be installed separately for recording
  to function. Confirm whether your purchase
  includes an HDD by contacting Yasaf Tech
  Centre before ordering.
• WiFi camera connections — This DVR uses
  coaxial BNC connections only.
  WiFi cameras are not compatible with
  this system.

Common Questions

Will it work with my existing Hikvision analog cameras?
Yes — if your existing cameras are analog HD TVI type.
Connect them via the existing BNC coaxial cables
directly to the DVR’s input ports.
The DVR detects the cameras automatically.

Can I view footage on my phone?
Yes. Connect the DVR to your router via Ethernet,
download the free Hik-Connect app on iOS or Android,
and add the DVR using its serial number.
You can then view live feeds, replay recorded
footage, and receive motion alerts from
anywhere with an internet connection.

Does it record all 8 channels simultaneously?
Yes. The DVR records all 8 channels at the same
time while allowing simultaneous live viewing
and remote access via Hik-Connect.
No channels are paused or delayed during
multi-channel recording.

What happens during a power outage?
The DVR stops recording when mains power is lost.
For continuous recording during outages,
connect the DVR to a UPS.
A UPS rated at 500VA or higher keeps the DVR
and cameras running for 1–2 hours during an outage.
UPS units compatible with CCTV systems are
